  • St Paul's Episcopal Church 914 East Knapp Street Milwaukee, WI, 53202 United States (map)

Join us Sunday, Jan 19th at St Paul’s Episcopal Church for the first Compline service of 2025!

HISTORY:

Compline is the final prayer service of the Christian day, originating in the early monastic tradition around the 6th century. Its name comes from the Latin completorium, meaning "completion," marking the end of the daily cycle of prayers. The service was formalized by St. Benedict in his Rule, where it provided monks a time for quiet reflection and prayer before sleep. Over time, Compline spread to other Christian communities, including the Catholic and Anglican traditions, where it remains a peaceful way to end the day with psalms, hymns, and prayers for peace.

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. | Service begins at 4:30 p.m.
